Based in the beautiful Roanoke Valley, Guynn, Memmer, & Dillon, P.C. serves its clients in southwest Virginia and across the Commonwealth. The firm was formed in 1995 by attorneys who left larger firms to concentrate on specific litigation areas in a collegial atmosphere. The firm is housed in a turn of the twentieth century Victorian office building in the heart of Salem, Virginia. We concentrate our practice in the areas of local government law, employment law, premises and product liability, insurance, social security, employee benefit appeals and issues pertaining to the defense of localities and public officials. We also have significant experience in cases involving complex medical issues, including claims of both medical and pharmaceutical professional negligence and life and health insurance benefit claims.

Our insurance defense and civil defense practice includes providing comprehensive litigation representation in civil jury and non-jury matters, as well as appearances before state and federal regulatory and administrative agencies. We handle matters at every level of state and federal courts including Virginia state trial courts, the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. We have a significant presence in the federal courts in the state of Virginia. We provide advice to our insurance clients on a variety of issues, including coverage, bad faith, insurance fraud, excess liability, and other general matters. For most of the carriers for which we work, and with all of the self-insureds with which we work, we are intimately involved and available throughout the claims process, as well as the ultimate litigation. We also serve as consultants for a number of carriers and businesses regarding risk management and employment issues and assistance with training management personnel to avoid or minimize liability exposure.

Our statewide representation of some clients requires frequent appearances in state and federal courts across Virginia from Norfolk to Big Stone Gap. This includes most circuit courts in the state of Virginia and all federal district courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. In addition, Ms. Memmer is admitted and has appeared in a number of state courts in North Carolina, as well as the federal court for the Western District of North Carolina and the Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina. We also regularly handle appeals in state and federal courts.
